Technology driven facials have rapidly grown in popularity in recent years, driven in part by powerful word-of-mouth social media hype, but also due to the advancement in the technology used. At Waterhouse Young, we’re always seeking new ways to improve our treatments; both to boost their efficacy and to reduce down-time and unwanted effects. We’ve been using Dermaroller micro-needling for some time as an all-round rejuvenation treatment that gives great results for a range of skin concerns, but we wanted to take those effects and improve on them.
Developed here at our own London clinic, WY Skin Fusion Therapy is a balanced combination of micro-needling and mesotherapy, offering a gentler, more comfortable treatment that improves skin texture, and reduces the appearance of wrinkles, visibly brightening the complexion. Our unique system delivers skin-nourishing ingredients to the optimal point in your skin, where the epidermis and dermis meet, using extremely fine 24k gold-plated needles. The treatment promotes collagen and elastin production, plumping the skin instantly, and providing a glow from within with minimal down-time.
Waterhouse Young Managing Director, Anna Miller RN said of the new treatment’s launch: “We are extremely proud of our new Skin Fusion Therapy, which has been developed here at our skin clinic by our own aesthetic doctors. We’re excited to share the results with our patients, especially those who have been enjoying the benefits of our existing micro needling treatments.”
What is micro-needling?
Also known as collagen induction therapy, micro-needling has been around since the 1990s, but has surged in popularity in recent years thanks to developments in the technologies used to deliver the treatment. Micro-needling is a minimally invasive treatment which can be used all over the body, from the scalp to ankles. Simply put, the treatment involves the insertion of very fine, sterilised needles into the skin, the effect being that the body’s natural defence response results in a plumped, glowing appearance to the skin. At Waterhouse Young we use the Dermaroller and/or eDS, an electronic version of micro-needling. The benefits of eDS are that we can control the depth of the needle and speed of insertion, altering it on areas which need more attention.
The treatment boasts a myriad of benefits, including the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, hyperpigmentation and stretch marks, improving the appearance of scars, and encouraging hair growth. This is thanks to how the treatment boosts the production of collagen and elastin. Patients can expect the effects of each treatment to last a few weeks, but when treatments are repeated on a monthly basis, collagen and elastin production is increased by up to 400% even six months after completing treatment, according to a 2008 study.
What is mesotherapy?
Like micro-needling, mesotherapy is also minimally invasive, but additionally involves the injection of vitamins, minerals and amino acids into the mesodermal layer of the skin. This boosts the collagen-producing effects of the micro-needling, using nourishing ingredients to deeply hydrate the skin, and improve tone and texture. The results are instant improvements to dull, tired complexions, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, and improved circulation. Like micro-needling, the treatment is also used with great effect to address hyperpigmentation and acne scarring.
WY Skin Fusion Therapy
We developed Skin Fusion Therapy to maximise the benefits of both micro-needling and mesotherapy, and you’ll only find it at our London clinic. The treatment requires little to no downtime, and unlike some similar treatments there is no need for a topical anaesthetic. There is minimal discomfort and you can expect almost instantly brighter, more radiant and more youthful skin.
We would recommend Skin Fusion Therapy for anyone suffering from the signs of ageing, sun damage, dehydration, or hyperpigmentation, as well as skin concerns such as acne scarring and excessive oil production. Since our unique Skin Fusion Therapy delivery system enables us to create truly bespoke skincare cocktails, we can target your own skin needs and personal concerns after a detailed consultation and skin analysis. This tailored approach sets our new treatment apart from those widely available and we’re excited to share it with our patients.
