How to prepare your skin for a wedding

Don’t leave your skin to the last minute – read our advice to ensure radiant skin on the day

We’ve put together a 12-month boot camp to prepare your skin, so that you’ll not only be a blushing bride, you’ll be a radiant bride. You’re already thinking about or have found the perfect dress, you’ve paid the deposit for your wedding venue and are looking into honeymoon destinations – remember your skin too, though. With fabulous quality photos being your lasting reminder of the day, do invest some time into ensuring you have picture-perfect skin.

12 months – time to act

Gorgeous skin doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time to diagnose and treat the underlying issues, so you need to start thinking about your skin now.

The first step is an extensive skin analysis. We use Visia computerised skin analysis to find the weak spots that will need the most aggressive treatment. These are usually wrinkles, pigmentation, acne or lack of elasticity. We can address all of these with a personalised ‘enrich, prevent & rejuvenate’ skin care regime, which includes the ultimate skin treatment: a Hydrafacial. This treatment exfoliates and removes impurities, while at the same time infusing your skin with hydrating antioxidant serums.Ideally aim for at least one HydraFacial a month to boost your daily skin care regime: it’s out with the old and in with the new!

9 months – time to experiment

By now your skin will be ready for more dramatic changes and, dependent on your skin’s condition, now’s the time to think about treatments like dermal fillers and skin peels. Why 9 months before? Because we can try things without compromising your looks on the actual day. We can start using Botox and dermal fillers in a very conservative way (we always work on natural results, anyway), with the aim to enhance your features, rather than making radical changes. And we can build up from this depending on if you’d like to further reduce some lines or plump your skin, for instance. Skin peels can give great results as they stimulate collagen production to help your skin look great from the inside. We wouldn’t want you to experience any downtime closer to the day, so this is the time for these types of treatments.

6 months – time to enhance

Collagen production reaches its peak about 6 months after starting a treatment, so we’ll give it a boost by bringing on the big guns: the Dermaroller. This micro-needling therapy will stimulate your sleeping collagen cells to improve your skin’s texture and elasticity. The result is brighter, smoother and healthier-looking skin. You should have three treatments: one every 6-8 weeks.

3 months – time to prepare

By now the time and effort will be showing. So, it’s time to boost hydration and nutrition levels to their limits.

We use the treatment that all the celebs are talking about: Intraceutical Infusions. This is a facial that uses pressure to saturate the skin with oxygen and infuse it with a rejuvenating serum. It reduces fine lines, improves tone and firms the skin. And the best bit? The results are instant.

You may also want to have another treatment of Botox or dermal fillers at this time, as we’ll already know what works and looks good for you.

1 month – time to relax

We wouldn’t carry out injections or peels at this stage before your big day. By now your personalised treatments will have left you with fantastic skin so all you’ll need is simple maintenance: HydraFacials and Intraceuticals until the very last minute. And we mean last minute. Your last Intraceuticals treatment should be on the day.

The big day

Depending on the location, we can take the Intraceuticals treatment to you and give you and your bridal party an antioxidant facial on the morning of your wedding. Your make-up will glide on, your skin will be radiant and you’ll be the glowing bride for your photos!
