Cosmetic Acupuncture: Effective and Natural Skincare
The team at WY takes great pride in staying up-to-date with the most effective
The team at WY takes great pride in staying up-to-date with the most effective and innovative treatments for health, wellness and conscious anti-ageing.
The team at WY are always looking for new ways to expand their treatment portfolio in order to provide the best for their clients.
That’s why we’re pleased to announce that our Managing Director, Registered Nurse Anna Silsby, is now offering cosmetic acupuncture treatments at WY’s skin clinic in London after intensive training with Amanda Shayle at Acuregen.
Here, Anna delves into the time-honoured practice of cosmetic acupuncture, explaining its importance for self-care and its benefits for the body.
A self-care essential
I’ve been practicing mindfulness for a few years now, and I appreciate the necessity of keeping a clear mind and taking the time to reset. The constant engagement of daily life can be exhausting, and dedicating time to yourself and your wellbeing makes all the difference for your physical and mental health.
In traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture – the strategic insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body – is used to help individuals find balance by adjusting energy flow. Both the face and ears are microsystems of the body, which means that certain points correspond with specific organs of the body and that treatments can be tailored to individual concerns beyond the aesthetic. I’ve always been drawn to acupuncture and feel privileged to bring something ancient into modern day life, as I’m fully aware of its rejuvenating and healing power for the mind, body and soul in addition to anti-ageing.
Of course, its effects on the skin are also remarkable: after a course of treatments, the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles are reduced, loose skin is lifted and toned, and dull complexions are brightened and revived.
WY’s Natural Lifting Facial
Through my study at Acuregen, I’ve been taught a unique approach to cosmetic acupuncture, which I’ve further developed to focus on helping clients feel the full restorative effects of this treatment.
Whilst it might seem a little strange to begin with, I’ll first assess the tongueto gain an understanding of the client’s overall health and to determine which additional points should be needled. The tongue reveals an incredible amount of knowledge about our bodies, from the health of our digestive systems to our circulation, so using this visual examination as a tool allows me to better address your health needs in treatment.
After a soothing cleanse, I begin our Natural Lifting Facial with cosmetic facial acupuncture and auriculotherapy, or ear acupuncture. I’ve found auriculotherapy particularly powerful as it includes specific points such as Shen Men, (also known as the ‘divine point’ which happens to be my favourite) due to its deeply relaxing, zen-inducing qualities. After needling specific points, addressing both health and skin ageing concerns, I’ll apply a nourishing or brightening collagen mask, use a jade roller to stimulate circulation, and perform facial cupping for lymphatic drainage before using a facial lifting massage technique to refresh the skin and relax the mind. (For those wondering, facial cupping is very different from back cupping, as it is incredibly soothing and leaves no marks on the skin.)
I often see clients who are all too busy looking after others and don’t have the time to look after themselves or feel guilty to indulge in a deeply relaxing treatment such as this. The Natural Lifting Facial was designed to provide our clients with both a physical and mental reset and renewal. Just a single treatment is able to calm the spirit, rejuvenate the skin, revitalise the body, increase energy levels and encourage better sleep – and who among us would say no to a little more beauty rest?
Our natural approach to wellbeing
At WY, we strive to offer aesthetic treatments with proven medical results, but we’re also embracing a movement towards highly effective natural treatments, as well. People are seeking more holistic paths to health, and natural alternatives like cosmetic acupuncture provide care that works in tandem with the body.
By developing my own mindfulness practice, I’ve learned how essential it is to create self-care rituals for relaxation. I’m bringing cosmetic acupuncture to WY because I know that it is a powerful self-care ritual that has a significant impact on the lives of others.
I’m so excited to introduce cosmetic acupuncture and the Natural Lifting Facial to WY. From the HydraFacial to wrinkle treatments, our clinic is known for highly personalised skincare, and cosmetic acupuncture fits perfectly with this approach. Book an appointment with me today to learn how to make cosmetic acupuncture one of your go-to rituals for radiant skin and a relaxed mind.
